The passage of time steals our youth, our vitality, and any permanence that we’d hope for. How finest to answer our scenario? Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) tried to reply this query in 1838 in his poem “A Psalm of Life.” They include a few of my favourite traces of poetry.

Epilogue – Nonetheless, as I’ve argued in my latest e book on the that means of life, the knowledge which will include age makes loss of life much more tragic. The knowledge which took a lot effort and time to realize vanishes with our passing, since it’s largely ineffable—incapable of being transmitted to the younger.
