A 4.6-magnitude earthquake has rattled Melbourne in a single day, waking folks up from their sleep.

The tremor hit 127km east of town close to Rawson at 1.32am, with a depth of 3km, in line with Geoscience Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology stated there was no tsunami menace.

Many from Melbourne’s east and south reported feeling their properties shaking. 

‘My home and all the things was shaking for a few seconds,’ one resident instructed ABC Radio on Friday morning.  

One other from Noble Park, within the metropolis’s southeast, stated he skilled ‘rattling’.

The shallow quake hit close to the small city of Mansfield, 110 miles north-east of Melbourne, and was one of many largest to hit Australia in a long time. It was six miles deep, in line with Geoscience Australia.
