The College of Chicago Press (UCP) has ceased promoting two books about philosophers as a result of their authors didn’t correctly cite sources.
Retraction Watch experiences that John Venn: A Life in Logic by Lukas M. Verburgt (Utrecht), printed in 2022, was retracted by the press, owing to “quite a few situations of insufficiently cited supply materials”.
How Slavoj Became Žižek: The Digital Making of a Public Intellectual by Eliran Bar-El (York), printed in 2023, was withdrawn from sale due to “a number of inadequate, lacking, or faulty citations of supply materials upon which the writer builds his argument”.
In accordance with Retraction Watch, UCP has given Bar-El a possibility to submit a revised model of the e-book for overview and potential publication. As for Verburgt, they report:
On his web site, Verburgt mentioned he accepted the choice to drag his e-book.
