It is a correct Introduction hymn and we sang this at church on the primary Sunday of Introduction. I’ve to say it appeared odd to be singing about Israel with all of the horrors occurring there, does anybody on both aspect care?

This model simply says it is by a standard choir.

Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel was in all probability written within the early C18. But it surely’s origins are a lot earlier. From a collection of verses or prayers known as antiphons referred to as ‘ the seven ‘O’s’ from manner again within the Center Ages. These have been sung in medieval monasteries.

The phrases have been translated from the Latin by John Mason Neale, probably the greatest identified translators between 1818 -66. The tune is far older presumably from a plainsong chant.
