Howard Stein, professor emeritus of philosophy on the College of Chicago, has died.

Professor Stein was well-known for his work in philosophy of physics, the historical past of physics and arithmetic, and the historical past of philosophy. Professor Stein earned his PhD on the College of Chicago in 1958 and was an assistant professor there for just a few years earlier than shifting on to varied different establishments, together with Brandeis College, Honeywell Inc., The Rockefeller College, Case Western Reserve College, and Columbia College, after which returning to Chicago as a a full professor in 1980. He earned an MS in arithmetic on the College of Michigan and his BA from Columbia.
