He was hardly the one well-known poet of his blazing, far-flung technology. However he was the one most dogged by disputes over the character and authenticity of his expertise. Even amongst admirers, there was ample disagreement in regards to the deserves of his ever-restless evolutions.
He was Wystan to his associates, who had been plentiful, and dependable, and infrequently themselves figures distinguished within the arts. He was W.H. to his devoted and infrequently befuddled readers. Born in Yorkshire in 1907, the son of a health care provider and the grandson of Anglican clergymen, Wystan Hugh Auden was already a author of nationwide promise when he graduated from Oxford, in 1928. If in later life he portrayed himself as comically unathletic, he was fast off the blocks.
