Joshu stated, “A clay Buddha can not cross water as a result of it collapses. A metal Buddha can not cross a forge as a result of it melts down. A wood Buddha can not cross hearth as a result of it burns. What’s the true Buddha?”
Pupil: “What’s the true Buddha?”
Grasp: “Joshu confirmed it.”
Commentary:
The Buddha by no means strikes, however there’s nowhere that He doesn’t attain.
