A Hibiscus Update

For the month of December, our hibiscus was relocated to our visitor room/library to clear an area for the Christmas tree.   Once I moved the hibiscus again to the entrance room I made a decision to present it a haircut.

A scene from the day after Christmas.  Ginger is not an enormous fan of the Nerf darts that Matt acquired from my cousin.  Matt certain is although!  12/26/2023

As a result of it had, certainly, hit the ceiling and was so terribly tall and spindly.  Hoping to encourage the expansion of aspect branches and a common more-bushyness-less-height, we snipped off the highest couple of toes (i.e. “topped” it).  I could not resist taking that prime bit and popping it into some water with my different cuttings.  Perhaps I will find yourself with two house hibiscuses.  (Or “hibisci,” when you favor….Hahahaha.)

The large hibiscus actually seems higher now.  It matches within the area higher.  It seems more healthy.  Matt and I’ve often struggled with pruning–both indoors and out.  When a plant appears to be flourishing with vigor, it feels unsuitable to hack away at it.  Pruning actually is usually a useful apply with many crops though–from apple trees and grape vines to indeterminate tomatoes and sprawling squash crops. I am hoping that is the way it seems with the hibiscus.  Extra aspect progress, much less peak progress.

A hibiscus of barely smaller stature returns to its place within the livingroom.  1/9/2023

I primarily wrote this put up to document that the hibiscus lastly stopped producing flowers the week of Christmas.  It had been making flower buds repeatedly since June.  I am undecided if it lastly known as it quits due to the change in its location or not, however I believe it may be the case.  There may be much more solar within the entrance room.

I used to be fairly impressed!  It was a fabulously extended flower bonanza!  I am curious to see how my hibiscus mission progresses this 12 months.
