Attempting one other ‘artisan’ (which means costly!) cheese produced from a dairy in Gloucestershire. Though I purchased it from a brand new small store on the Eye enterprise park run by Fen Farm Dairy.
A really comfortable brie kind cheese which is dipped in cider
I attempted my first piece with hand-crafted water biscuits ( my model of onerous tack!) plus apple and grapes.
Need to say it was fairly tasteless! A disappointment.
That is what I discovered about this cheese.
The unique concept comes from 2018 when two individuals received collectively to debate the thought. The primary Yarlington cheese was made in 2022 and the title comes from the previous apples referred to as Yarlington Mill used to make the cider.
“Yarlington was born from a collaboration between native expert artisan. David Jowett, head cheese maker at King Stone Dairy and Cellarman and cidermaker Tom Oliver. This comfortable, wealthy, oozy cheese is washed in a wild fermented cider and brine throughout maturation. This does enable the cheese to develop a pungent, advanced rind however to supply fruity and milky aromas. A farmyardy aftertaste is noticeable, which is reminding us of its French cousin, Reblochon. In any case it is the place Yarlington inspiration initially comes from.”
I did not discover any cider style and as for a “farmyardy aftertaste” that wasn’t in any respect noticeable – which may be factor!.
Not a cheese I will be bothering with once more!
Again Tomorrow
