McGowan, of East Goscote, Leicestershire, admitted aggravated automobile taking and was sentenced to a 12 month jail sentence, suspended for 2 years, 250 hours of unpaid work and a curfew for 3 months.

Jailing Calow, Choose Jane Miller stated: ‘Patrick and his spouse had 4 kids and he was clearly an exquisite father to all of them.

‘You had been deeply irresponsible.

‘No sentencing can start to compensate for the lack of life or the very severe harm induced.

‘You didn’t care in regards to the very apparent danger that you simply had been taking.’
