A monastic requested Grasp Dongan, “What’s the trainer of heaven and human beings like?” The grasp answered, “He has no horns on his head and no hair on his physique.”
Scholar: “Why is he the trainer of the heaven and human beings?”
Grasp: “As a result of there may be nothing he doesn’t know.”
Commentary:
There’s nothing that the Buddha doesn’t know though he has no eyes and no ears, and no place that he can’t attain though he has no limbs.
