New period of data sharing

What an thrilling time for the social care nursing career! Social care nursing advisory councils have now been launched in each ICB (built-in care board) in England and shall be chaired by nursing colleagues from throughout the sector.

The brand new councils will permit every Chair to kind a board of representatives from the native space. They’ll work with the Director of Nursing in every ICB to offer a greater and wider understanding of nursing proper throughout the well being and grownup social care sectors.

For me, it’s an honour to be appointed as one of many Chairs. I see my position as supporting efforts to ensure the broader workforce is included within the growth of nursing plans throughout all settings bringing well being and social care collectively.

The advisory group will carry appreciable expertise, data, innovation and knowledge to the desk to higher inform the event of nursing observe throughout all settings.

Chairing quarterly council conferences with the Director of Nursing for the ICB will permit me to ask members from frontline social care workers to facilitate and lead discussions related to the sector to assist form and inform supply of ICS (built-in care system) priorities.

This gives one other avenue to evolve the way forward for the sector, establish challenges and alternatives, and promote joint working throughout well being and social care. ICS nurses now have a “touchstone” with their social care counterparts to share experiences, present intelligence and promote options inside native well being and care networks.

Drawback fixing for higher outcomes

That is about encouraging variety of concepts, listening to one another and performing on the issues that may take advantage of distinction. This implies not solely implementing change however sustaining it throughout well being and social care.

I see the councils as being locations to debate and assist the change of concepts on related skilled, medical and operational issues. They may also be boards to debate and problem-solve areas vital to social care nurses and the broader sector, while in the end delivering higher outcomes for people, populations and our groups.

I’ve labored within the sector because the age of 13 and spent most of my years in nursing. To be chosen to be a chair for one of many advisory councils is an unbelievable privilege and I sit up for working with the Chief Nurse of my allotted ICB and with colleagues throughout the sector.

The Florence Nightingale Foundation are offering a growth programme to assist this improbable venture, which I’m very a lot wanting ahead to finishing.
