Second Chance Act Reintroduced: Seminal Criminal Justice Reform Legislation

On April 16, 2024, the Home of Representatives reintroduced a very seminal bipartisan felony justice reform invoice known as the Second Chance Act (SCA). This information of the reintroduction of SCA is extra gratifying once we understand that it coincides with the act’s 16th anniversary.

This laws, initially handed in 2008, took place by way of years of advocacy and activism from the felony justice reform group– in collaboration with SCA’s Congressional champion, Danny Davis (D-IL).  As one of many core members of the felony justice reform coalition that advocated for SCA from the start, NASW is especially happy that SCA has achieved a lot of its stated goals.
